Hi, I’m Ian HOey…

and this is my story. For most of my life, my strategy was simple: outrun the pain. Work harder, say yes, keep everyone else okay and deal with myself later. It worked… until it didn’t. My body started throwing alarms, my nervous system was fried, and I realized I’d built a life that technically ‘worked’ but quietly wrecked me from the inside out.

I’m a 12‑years‑sober dad with ADHD and a chronic illness in remission, raising three kids (including one with autism and one with Down syndrome), trying to figure out how to carry all of this and not lose myself. doesn’t wreck me is me, in the middle of it, telling the truth about what it costs to keep pretending you’re fine, and what it actually looks like to come back to yourself without blowing up your whole life.

On this show we talk about the nervous system side of burnout, the shame side of money and work, the tender side of parenting, and the spiritual side of getting back up when you’re so tired of getting back up. I’m not here to fix you. I’m here to say: you’re not crazy for feeling like this, you’re not alone in it, and together we can learn how to build a life that doesn’t wreck us.
